January 29. Borrego trip

Borrego Springs, CA.  Pat walking to Kelly's home in a nice gated community

Our Minnie.  A weekend trip

Kelly, and her Assistant, Sunnie.

Next stop, Angela's house.  this is her Hobbit House

We didn't take many pictures this afternoon.  Too busy visiting.  It's now almost dark.  We found this cozy spot to stop for the night.

Other than a weak house battery, we had a good night. Now, we're by the Salton Sea.  We've spent several nights in this RV park, which used to be nice.  It was a full service, full hook ups park.  Story is, An outlaw biker gang had a rally here an trashed the place.  It never recovered.  You can dry camp here for free.

The restrooms and showers used to be here.  and the dump station for travelers.  All the vendor structures  are destroyed and gone too.

This area is very popular with the powered parasail crowd

A good place to eat.

Very bright morning.  Most of the picture of the day are over exposed.  Didn't have the camera set right.

A low carbohydrate breakfast.  Very good sausage

Next weekend they are hosting a festival for these flyers. Today we watch 6 or 7 out flying

Coming in for a landing

A Bocce Ball court.  Very well groomed

This one just landed

We went out to see Salvation Mountain.  Still interesting, but just not the same since Leonard, it's originator, passed away.

They even have a new sign for Slab City

We were a day late.  yesterday, from noon to the wee hours of this morning, they were having the annual talent contest here

Tough old cow

I can just imaging what it was like here last night.  They get huge crowds here at the Range

Concession stand

This trailer was just going in last time we were up here.  Now it's someones home.

As in "Home on the Range"

Every year the seating is a little different

Dogs, Horses, Mules, and people in all states of dress and undress are frequent here on any given Saturday night

One of the bulletin boards

Next week end is the Tomato festival in Niland.

Trash can be used for any number of things

A typical front yard

Art colony

This car was just backing in as we got there

The first time we saw all this we were amazed.  Some new some old, some changed. Still interesting

Horse riding shotgun

Pointing out "a mother's nightmare" sort of playground

A Wizard, of sorts

Sort of weather beaten. A couple years ago, this was fluffy white, stuffed with plastic bags stuffed into the chicken wire

Looks like he could be at a Lynda Vista fire pit

Keeps the property tax down when you live in a place like this

Modern elephant

Always time to sit and watch some TV

Another house with weird things inside

The area behind the fence is where some of the permanent residents live.  We have been invited back there before.  Interesting group

Someone cleaned up the screens

Always interesting vehicles

This one is livable

Bottle fence

Bottle Tree

Wizard

Teeter Totter. The center was 6 feet from the ground, so the person in the air was pretty high.  It does work well

School house

Golf course

CGC Burning Man

Don't forget the Air Force

Knife throwing block

Traffic is heavy out here

This lady lost her head.. but, she found it

Something new this year

And, the book spot

Typical home

Pat found a watch she liked while visiting the Pioneer Museum in El Centro yesterday.  She was equipped with both Mountain and Pacific time.
